[Students] Construction Site Safety Awareness

[Joan Lawrence]

As you are probably aware, there is a lot of construction taking place
on campus. During this time of construction the Department of Risk
Management and Safety would like to emphasize some basic safety
precautions we all need to remember.

* Be aware of your surroundings.

* Look for slip - trip - fall hazards and avoid those areas
until the problems can be corrected.

* Avoid cell phone use around construction sites in order to
direct your attention to the physical environment you are in.

* Never enter an unauthorized area.

* If you must walk near a construction zone, always pay
attention to the work around you.

* Report any unsafe conditions or concerns you may have.

Please contact the Department of Risk Management and Safety if you have
any questions or concerns.

Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make
yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether
you like it or not." Walter Bagehot
