Disability Awareness Day
The 1st Annual Disability Awareness Day, sponsored by Student Disability
Resources and Services and the Morris Recreation Center (MRC), will be
held on Thursday, October 23rd from 4-7pm in the MRC.
The event is being held to raise awareness and understanding of some of
the barriers that affect students with disabilities, as well as to look
at why students with disabilities need specific accommodations to ensure
equal access to higher education. If people understand, then perhaps
their understanding will translate into action and they will do more to
promote the rights of individuals with disabilities.
The attendance and involvement of both the campus and local communities
is vital to the success of this event. Clubs, organizations, classes, or
individuals interested in hosting a booth or assisting with simulation
activities, should contact Student Disability Resources and Services by
Friday, October 3, 2008. Your participation in this event demonstrates
a commitment to values of public service, diversity and personal
responsibility.

Awareness Day, should contact Leigh Ann Powell at 903-886-5835 or email
