[Students] 9/3 WSOC: Senior Melissa DoRemus Named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week

[Daniel Kambel]

For the third time in her career, Texas A&M University-Commerce senior
Melissa DoRemus earned Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week
honors.

DoRemus scored two goals in the Lions' season-opening 4-2 win over No.
12 Drury, last week. She earned the honor previously as a freshman
(October 18) and as a sophomore (October 3). With her two goal effort,
it was the fourth multi-goal game of her career. In addition, the
Mesquite, Texas native now ranks sixth all-time in school history in
goals scored with 23. In addition with four points, she moves into a tie
for sixth place all-time in career points.

DoRemus and the Lions are off to a 2-0 start, with the win over Dallas
Baptist on Monday, for only the fifth time in school history. Up next
for the Lions is a trip to California, where they will face Cal-State
Los Angeles on Thursday at 7 p.m. and UC-San Diego on Saturday at 7 p.m.
UC-San Diego is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation by the NSCAA and
off to a 2-0 start. The Lions are No. 7 in the latest NCAA South Central
rankings.
