On the strength of a third-place performance at the Lone Star Conference Cross Country Championships, the Texas A&M University-Commerce men's cross country team moved up to No. 7 in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Central Regional poll.

The Lions had three runners - Tyler Tyndell, Cody Hughes and Robert Reed - earn all-Lone Star Conference honors for their top 10 finish. Tyndell, who earned his second-straight all-LSC recognition, finished fourth overall in a time of 23:45. Hughes, who was making his LSC Championship debut, was seventh in 24:27 and Reed finished eighth in 24:34. The trio were joined by the 19th-place finish (25:31) of junior Gerardo Delafunete and 40th-place performance (27:00) of sophomore Brandon Womack in the 7,700-meter race.

Abilene Christian, who won the team title at the LSC Championships, remains the top team in the region and No. 2 nationally. Also ahead of the Lions are Southwest Baptist (No. 2 in the region and No. 23 nationally), Pittsburg State (No. 3 in the region and No. 17 nationally), Missouri Southern State (No. 4), Fort Hays State (No. 5) and Tarleton State (No. 6). The Texans edged the Lions by one point at the LSC Championships.

The next meet for A&M-Commerce is the NCAA South Central Regional meet on Nov. 8 at the University of Incarnate Word, where the Lions won the UIW Invitational on Sept. 27.
