On Saturday, November 15th, there will be a workshop on campus from
9:30-4:00. The workshop is funded by a grant from the American
Psychological Association Commission on Minority Recruiting, Retention,
and Training. The workshop provides training to undergraduate minority
students in Research Methodology (Qualitative Methods) and also
information on how to approach applying for and subsequently succeeding
in Graduate School. The workshop facilitator is Dr. Amy Fisher-Smith
from the University of Dallas. Dr. Fisher-Smith has published
extensively on Qualitative Methodology. She hosted this workshop at
West Georgia U last year, and it was a great success. I am assisting
her with the workshop this year. Although the grant is funded by the
APA, it would be beneficial to all students in the Social Sciences,
including Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History and
Education (qualitative methods heavily utilized in Education research
these days).
Not only will this workshop be useful to you, it will look good on your
resume. To register, please contact Dr. Raymond Green at
Raymond_green at tamu-commerce.edu or 903-886-3033 and I will reserve a
space for you. See the flyer below for more details (e.g., time and
location).
Breakfast and lunch will be served and, in addition, students who
complete the workshop will receive a $10 Target gift card.
