A message from the Social Work Department...
Do you like helping people? Are you the kind of person who everyone comes
to when they have problems? Are you a good listener?
Does it bother you when social injustices occur?
If you answered YES to any of these questions,
then you might be interested in Social Work...
We have seats available for SPRING 2008 in the following classes:
SWK 250 - Foundations of Practice (MWF 1 pm)
SWK 275 - Human Behavior and the Social Environment (MWF 11 am)
SWK 340 - Global Perspectives (W 2-5 pm)
SWK 362 - Child Welfare (M 2-5 pm)
Here's what some of our current students and alumni say about our
department:
This program is a family away from your family and when you have to spend as
much time in the classrooms as you do then it's good to have that comfort
and TAMU's social work program does that...
I was well prepared for the academic challenge of the social work graduate
program, thanks to the solid generalist foundation provided by the
bachelor's course work and the experience and passion of the social work
professors. The social work faculty and staff extend themselves above and
beyond their respective positions to provide academic and emotional support
and guidance for all students...
I, like many others, appreciated the fact that we were a small, intimate
group. I also believe that your goal was to ensure that we all achieved
success and become not only better individuals, but better social workers.
The BSW program promotes compassion, understanding, and knowledge; moreover,
you leave the program knowing that you are well prepared to face the
professional world of social work...
What impresses me about the faculty is that each of them exhibits a great
deal of care and concern about the students. It is apparent that working
there is not just a job but there is a genuine interest in the development
of each student. The school and faculty appear to go out of its way to
accommodate student needs...
