[Students] Be There - 2007-08 Basketball Home Opener

[Jesse Logan]

The 2007-08 A&M-Commerce men's and women's basketball teams open their home
schedule on Tuesday, November 20 against Ouachita Baptist and Paul Quinn,
respectively, with the games beginning at 6 and 8 p.m. at the A&M-Commerce
Field House.

The women enter the 2007-08 season with a No. 12 ranking in the USA
Today/ESPN Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll, after recording one of the
most memorable seasons in the 35-year history of the program. The team won
the Lone Star Conference North Division and Tournament titles, the South
Central Regional title and earned a berth in the NCAA Division II Elite
Eight for the first time in school history, en route to breaking 40 school
records and tallying a team record of 29 wins.

The men's basketball team returns five letterwinners and three starters from
last year's team, which finished with a record of 14-14 and is projected to
finish second in the Lone Star Conference North Division.

Three of those returnees averaged double figures in scoring a season ago,
Kevin Widemond averaged 14.1 points per game, while Lance Jackson and Champ
Sylvester averaged 11.3 and 10.6, respectively.

In 2007-08 the Lions are ON THE PROWL! Be a Part of the Pride!
