1. The required University Studies courses in Political Science are
being changed. PSCI 220 and 221 are being replaced by PSCI 211 and 212.

2. Either PSCI 211 and 212 or PSCI 220 and 221 may be completed to
satisfy the University Studies requirement in Political Science. Students
who have completed PSCI 220 and 221 or who plan to complete those courses
do not have to take any additional Political Science classes.

3. PSCI 220 and 221 will be offered during summer 2007. One section
of each of these classes will be offered in fall 2007 and spring
2008. After that, they will no longer be offered.

4. Students beginning their Political Science sequence in fall 2007
should take PSCI 211. Multiple sections will be offered in fall 2007 and
in subsequent semesters. Beginning in spring 2008, multiple sections of
PSCI 212 will be offered.

5. Explanation of the change: To receive a bachelor's degree from a
public university in Texas, a student must complete six hours of study of
the United States and Texas Constitutions. Two models are used to satisfy
this requirement. Some universities and community colleges have separate
courses in United States Government and Texas Government. Other
institutions have an integrated sequence in which specified topics from
both United States Government and Texas Government are studied in each
course. After careful consideration, the Department of Political Science
has decided it will be beneficial to change from the first to the second model.
