Greetings Student Organization Leaders,

I hope you are as excited as I am about the upcoming school year and all the
new students we will be welcoming to campus over the next few weeks!

I have a few upcoming opportunities for your organization(s) I would like to
make you aware of.

Get the Scoop on Groups

Thursday, August 24th

3:00-4:00pm

2nd Floor, MSC

Each organization registered to participate in this event will be provided
with a different ice cream topping at their table. Lion Campers (new
students) will each be given a bowl of ice cream and will then come around
to meet and learn about different student organizations and add their
favorite toppings to their bowl of ice cream. Organizations are encouraged
to set-up their organization display at this event.

Please reserve a table for your organization at this event by emailing me at
Emily_Shipman at tamu-commerce.edu <mailto:Emily_Shipman at tamu-commerce.edu> by
Tuesday, August 22nd.

The Pride Party

Monday, August 28th

4:00-8:00pm

West Lawn

The Pride Party is a new Lion's Roar Event. The Pride Party will be a HUGE
welcome-back party occurring on the West Lawn (Stadium side of the MSC) on
Monday, August 28th from 4-8pm. The Pride Party will include our Student
Organizations Fair, our annual Merchant's Fair, live music from the Steel
Drum Band, our Lions Athletic Teams, fun activities (mechanical bull,
gyroscope, gladiator joust), a sketch artist, food, over $1000 in cash
prizes given away and more. Organizations are encouraged to set up their
display for this event and take turns recruiting at the table and enjoying
the entertainment at The Pride Party. The Pride Party will have a jungle
theme, as our Lion's Roar Theme this year is Welcome to the Jungle. If you
have any decorations to go with this theme, I encourage you to use them at
your display. We invite all University Community members to attend this
event.

Please reserve a table for your organization at this event by emailing me at
Emily_Shipman at tamu-commerce.edu <mailto:Emily_Shipman at tamu-commerce.edu> by
Thursday, August 24th. (Please note: no power will be available for
displays at this event.)

Lion Camp Volunteers

Additionally, Louisa Kessel is looking for about 50 Lion Camp Volunteers.
If you are interested, or you know of an interested student, please complete
the attached form and send it to Louisa at Louisa_Kessel at tamu-commerce.edu
<mailto:Louisa_Kessel at tamu-commerce.edu> . This is yet another great
opportunity for students to make meaningful connections with our incoming
students.

Please help pass this valuable information along to other student leaders.

I look forward to hearing from your organization soon!

~Emily
