Subject: Important Information Regarding Weather Conditions and University
Operations

Due to the unstable weather situation surrounding Hurricane Rita, it is
possible that Commerce-area residents could experience severe weather
conditions this weekend. Because of that threat, we are passing along the
following important information to our faculty, staff and students:

*	Friday and Saturday classes will be conducted as scheduled except in
the event of dangerous conditions. Should you question conditions, tune in
to KETR 88.9 FM for up-to-the-minute information, or call the campus
inclement weather line at 903-886-5005. You may also tune in to radio and
news stations in your area, which are provided any information on university
closings due to weather conditions.

*	Most academic buildings will be locked this weekend and must remain
locked for safety.

*	Family Day will go on as scheduled for Saturday, with a few
exceptions as noted below.

*	The Lions football game at Memorial Stadium in Commerce, previously
scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, has been moved to noon.

*	The President's Reception and pre-game tailgate party have been
combined and will start at 10:30 a.m. and last until noon. If weather
conditions are good, the tailgate party will be held on the West Lawn. In
the event of rain, it will be moved to the cafeteria inside the Sam Rayburn
Memorial Student Center. (Students' evening meal will be served from 4:30 to
6:30 p.m. in the MSC; families still on campus for Family Day may also
purchase food.)

*	The Lady Lions' home volleyball game will continue as previously
scheduled at 2 p.m. in the Field House.

*	Should severe weather occur while you are on campus, remember to
stay inside, keep away from windows, and avoid using elevators.

*	Call 911 only in an emergency. To report power outages and other
housing-related issues, contact your resident assistant.

*	Should storms produce a power outage of more than two hours, you may
proceed to the Sam Rayburn Memorial Student Center for food, water and
further information.

The welfare of you, our faculty, staff, and students, is our highest
priority, and we appreciate everyone's help in making certain that Family
Day and other activities on campus this weekend are as safe and secure as
possible.
