[phas-undergrad] College of Science and Engineering Career Fair Wednesday Feb 25 9am-noon

Hello everyone,

The College of Science and Engineering will be hosting a career fair on Wednesday, February 25m 9am-Noon on the second floor of the Sam Rayburn Student Center.  Please see the attached flyers for more information.

A career fair like this is a zero-pressure way to learn what sorts of jobs are available in the region.  One of our contacts at L3Harris mentioned that she didn't have a single physics student stop by their booth in the fall, even though they were specifically hoping to recruit physics students!  While this rep won't be present next week, L3Harris will.

As a physicist, you have a lot to offer that recruiters are looking for.  You know computer programming.  You know the science behind the engineering.  You know how to set up experiments.  You know how to solve problems.  You know math.  You know how to critique yourselves.  You have high leadership potential.  Don't worry if you don't know what a TPS report is or an SOP is - you have the ability to learn all that.

If you don't have a resume ready to pass around, go to the career fair prep day this Wednesday from 10am-noon in BA 251.  Members of our career preparedness team will help you review your resume and give insight into how to converse with the representatives at the career fair.

In short, go!  Learn some career options besides academia.  And prove the general consensus that physicists don't care about their career wrong!
