Hello everyone, and welcome back to the new school year!
We don't have all of our new students on this email yet, and if you have graduated or left the department and are still on the list and do not wish to be, please let me know and we'll get you off.
A few notes:
1. Please DO NOT yet submit keycard requests for room 111 (the undergrad lounge). The department has developed an agreement that you will need to read and sign in order to gain keycard access, but I need a couple of days yet to get that ready. In the meantime, we will make sure room 111 is open during business hours. Thanks for your patience. If you need access to other rooms due to being an LA or undergrad researcher, you can submit those requests as soon as you like, but please don't include room 111 yet. Door access forms can be found here: https://dms.etamu.edu/Forms/DoorAccess
2. We will have our annual welcome barbeque on Tuesday, September 16 from 5-7 pm just outside the science building; all physics majors, minors, and SPS members are welcome!
3. If your are not already a member of the Society of Physics Students (SPS) and are interested in what our student group is all about, please talk to our president, Nicholas Cox (ncox6 at leomail.tamuc.edu<mailto:ncox6 at leomail.tamuc.edu>) for information!
4. Finally, a reminder that I am your departmental advisor. If you have any questions or problems with being a physics major or your classes, please feel free to come talk to me! We'll start worrying about spring classes around the start of October.
That's enough for now. It's exciting to have y'all back, and best wishes in this semester!
Cheers,
Dr. Williams
