We have several things to celebrate this week in the Department of Physics and Astronomy:
* AIP data for the 2021-22 school year show that we lead the nation in exiting master's degree in production among non-PhD producing programs. And this is not by a small margin - we graduated 32 across our programs, while 2nd place is held by Cal State Los Angeles, which graduated 21.
* Those same data show that we are third in the nation among *all* physics departments for exiting master's degrees, behind only Brown (with 35) and Oregon (with 24).
* The Planetarium and the Society of Physics students both received Honorable Mentions in the campus Homecoming "Decorate Your Den" contest.
Congratulations everyone!
As we go through the year, please keep me informed of even little successes - student participation in conferences, alumni graduate degrees or new jobs, accepted papers, funded grants, Nobel prizes, and so on!
Cheers,
Dr. Williams
