Hi physics majors,

We are currently accepting applications to become a learning assistant (LA) in Spring 2019. LAs are undergraduate students who help to teach classes. Being an LA is a great way to learn the course material better and gain teaching experience. LA's responsibilities are to facilitate group work in class, attend weekly prep sessions, and tutor (1-2 hours). LA's also enroll in PHYS 371 Science and Math Education Theory and Practice, a one credit hour seminar course. LAs may enroll in 1 of 2 sections of this course. One is offered Tuesdays 2:00-2:50, and the other is TBA. LAs are paid hourly. In the past, LAs have worked in PHYS 2425 and 2426. For next Fall, we are also hiring LAs for Math Methods, Waves, and Digital Log!

The physics classes we need help in are:

PHYS 2425 University Physics I
MWF 10:00-11:50
MWF 12:00-1:50
MWF 2:00-3:50

and

PHYS 2426 University Physics II
MWF 12:00-1:50
MWF 2:00-3:50

and

PHYS 317 Math Methods for Physics
TR 12:30-1:45

and

PHYS 332 Digital Log & Circuitry
Lecture MWF 10-10:50
Lab T 3:30-6:20 and F 2:00-4:50

and

PHYS 333 Waves
Lecture TR 11:00-12:15
Lab T 4:00-6:50

If you are interested in becoming an LA or would like more information, contact me (robynne.lock at tamuc.edu<mailto:robynne.lock at tamuc.edu>). Applications are available on the bulletin board outside of 135 and next to the coffee pot in the physics lounge. Applications are due Monday, 4/8.

If you need to see when all classes are offered in the Fall, go to: http://appsprod.tamuc.edu/Schedule/Schedule.aspx/
You do not need to have your schedule finalized to apply, but you should have a tentative schedule.

Dr. Lock
