Greetings to everyone,
Prof. Anil Chourasia has announced that he will be retiring at the end of August. Professor Chourasia has been a stalwart member of the Department of Physics and Astronomy for forty years, and has been an integral member of our faculty for 33 of those years.
During that time, Professor Chourasia has mentored large numbers of students, from REU participants to senior undergraduates and to master’s students and beyond. His research into the physics of surfaces, films and interfaces has been published in multiple impactful journals around the world and inspired his students into productive and lucrative careers in both academia and industry. Dr. Chourasia’s efforts in education have reached literally thousands of students in fields extending well beyond physics and the other hard sciences.
This department will be lessened by his retirement, but we celebrate with him as he starts an exciting new chapter in this wondrous journey we call life.
The department is developing plans for an appropriate celebration of Prof. Chourasia; details are not yet set.
Congratulations, Prof. Chourasia!
Cheers,
Kurtis
