Hello everyone,
The university just sent out its operational plans for tomorrow, and they are a bit confusing. Here is my take:
Classes tomorrow (Thursday) will still be online, as they have been all week. This is so students who live in areas where it is still unsafe to drive are not negatively affected. Online = asynchronous, meaning students cannot be required to show up at any specific time.
FAQ: Can we hold a Zoom meeting if students are not required to attend it? This is a good question; I will ask the dean and report back.
The university will be open tomorrow. This means anything that would be open on a normal day will be open tomorrow. However, keep in mind that many offices may be short-handed.
Faculty, staff and students should make their own decision on whether to come to campus. If you have no reason to come to campus and have the slightest concern for your own safety, stay home. Faculty and staff should work at home if they are not coming to campus, but the decision on whether to commute or not is yours. Students, be sure to keep up on your classwork. Students with any work-study positions should contact their supervisors if they are scheduled to work but don't feel safe coming in.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Cheers,
Dr. Williams
