Good morning everyone,
The Office of Research and Economic Development has created this flowchart to help you navigate current rules surrounding foreign travel. If you will be travelling out of the United States for any reason this summer, please refer to this document as you begin your planning.
The current list of "Countries of Concern" includes:
* China (including Hong Kong and Macau)
* Cuba;
* Iran;
* North Korea;
* Russia; and
* Venezuelan politician Nicolás Maduro (Maduro Regime).
Grad students, if you are getting paid by the university (e.g., as a GAT or GAR) or if even a tiny bit of your travel is being covered by a faculty member's grant or university money, then you are required to follow these rules.
Please remember that all university electronic assets (computers, laptops, tablets, etc with a property tag) have geofencing software that will notice if you take it out of the US. Unauthorized removal of such equipment from the US can and probably will result in termination of your employment, so please don't do it.
Cheers,
Kurtis
