Hello, Graduate Faculty,

The Graduate School recently sent the following information to students enrolled in a 518 or 718 course.  Please continue to be aware that, for doctoral students, grades of U now impact academic standing, including U's earned in 718.

Included in our email to students were the following Graduate School submission deadlines for Spring 2020, Summer 2020, and Fall 2020. If you have any students who you know are not currently registered in 518 or 718 this semester, but could still benefit from this information, please forward this information to them.

Deadlines for 518 Students


o   The Graduate School Deadlines for Spring 2020:

Ø  Last day to defend final thesis:  Friday, March 27th

Ø  Last day to submit final thesis and all related forms and documents to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>): Friday, April 3rd

Ø  Last day to submit thesis proposals to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>) for spring approval (summer graduation): Friday, April 24th


o   The Graduate School Deadlines for Summer 2020:

Ø  Last day to defend the final thesis:  Friday, June 19th

Ø  Last day to submit the final thesis to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>): Friday, June 26th

Ø  Last day to submit thesis proposals to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>) for summer approval (fall graduation): Friday, July 24th



o   The Graduate School Deadlines for Fall 2020:

Ø  Last day to defend the final thesis:  Friday, October 23rd

Ø  Last day to submit the final thesis to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>): Friday, November 6th

Ø  Last day to submit thesis proposals to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>) for fall approval (spring 2021 graduation): Monday, November 30th (due to Thanksgiving holiday)

Deadlines for 718 Students


o   Graduate School Deadlines for Final Dissertations Spring 2020 Graduation:

Ø  Last day to submit a schedule for final defense of your dissertation:  February 20th
Once the form is fully signed, submit to Vicky Turner in the Graduate School (Vicky.Turner at tamuc.edu<mailto:Vicky.Turner at tamuc.edu>)

Ø  Last day to defend final dissertation:  Friday, March 27th

Ø  Last day to submit final dissertation to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>): Friday, April 3rd


o   Graduate School Deadlines for Dissertation Proposals for Spring Approval (Summer 2020 Graduation):

Ø  Schedule the proposal defense<http://www.tamuc.edu/academics/graduateSchool/documents/Dissertationproposalscheduleform.pdf> with your advisor and committee by the 20th of the month prior to your scheduled proposal date.

Once the form is fully signed, submit to Vicky Turner in the Graduate School (Vicky.Turner at tamuc.edu<mailto:Vicky.Turner at tamuc.edu>).  Include a copy of your dissertation proposal

with your schedule form. (The Graduate School will not review the proposal at this time; the proposal will be used to select a Graduate Representative to attend your proposal defense.)

Ø  Last day to submit dissertation proposals to the Graduate School (TDS at tamuc.edu<mailto:TDS at tamuc.edu>) for spring approval (summer graduation): Friday, April 24th


o   Graduate School Deadlines for Final Dissertations Summer 2020 Graduation:

Ø  Last day to submit a schedule for final defense of your dissertation:  May 20th

Ø  Last day to defend final dissertation to be eligible for summer graduation:  Friday, June 19th

Reviews of proposals, final theses, and final dissertations will be limited to adherence to Graduate School formatting requirements based on the templates and formatting guides provided on the Graduate School webpages listed below.

The following are approximate turn-around times after the proposal or dissertation has been submitted to Thesis & Dissertation Services in the Graduate School. Papers are reviewed in the order received.



Early in semester - 15 working days

Week before Deadline Day - 20 working days
After Deadline Day - 15 working days
