<ol style="margin-top:0in" start="1" type="1">
<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level1 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">A student is eligible for an incomplete ONLY if there are circumstances beyond a student’s control which prevents them from attending during Finals Week or the final three weeks of class. If
this is the case,<o:p></o:p></span>
<ol style="margin-top:0in" start="1" type="a">
<li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">You (the instructor) need to fill out the attached form, Plan For Completing the Grade of X, in consultation with the student. This is a contract on what must be done. You and the student must
agree on a deadline for completion, which can be no later than one year after the end of the semester. It can be sooner.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">You and the student must sign the contract.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">You should then email the contract to me for my signature.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">I will then sign it, forward it to the dean’s office for official filing, and then send a copy of the signed form to both you and the student.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">You should then enter a grade of X for the student.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">Every semester in which a student enrolls in Phys 518 (Thesis), you should give the student a grade of “</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Times New Roman",serif">I</span><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">”<o:p></o:p></span>

<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">This is true EVEN IF the student has successfully defended and submitted their thesis in that semester.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">The grad school will change the grade to “S” once the thesis has been approved by the graduate school.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
<span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Helvetica",sans-serif">DO NOT GIVE A STUDENT A GRADE OF ‘S’ ON PHYS 518, EVER.<o:p></o:p></span></li><li class="MsoListParagraph" style="color:black;margin-left:0in;mso-list:l0 level2 lfo1">
