[phas-faculty_staff_others] Reminder of modified courses on Monday

Hello everyone,

I hope you are safe and relatively warm.

This is a reminder that Monday’s classes are to be moved online. For most classes, this should involve giving students some work/assignments that should keep their mind engaged on the class. It is your call as to whether this should be new material, additional material on topics you have covered, or some adjacent assignment that may not normally be covered. As instructor, you have the choice of what is best.

You should not require any synchronous class work — meaning students have to sign on at a specific time.

In addition to posting on D2L, please send students an email as well so they are clear on your expectations.

Also, be aware many districts are starting to cancel Tuesday courses as well. You may want to be prepared to take Tuesday courses online, just in case.

Finally, it wouldn’t hurt to ask your students, perhaps in your email to them, to feel free to contact you or student advocacy and support if they are in need of warmth, food, or medical attention. Chances are all are okay, but if they are in need, you can contact student advocacy on their behalf— https://www.etamu.edu/student-advocacy-support/ — or call campus police.
