[phas-faculty_staff_others] President’s NSF FY26 budget request

If you haven’t heard, the NSF released the full FY26 budget request for the NSF today. I suggest reading it. If passed, this is beyond disastrous and even worse than the 66% cut to MPS sounds like.

Normally Congress would ignore a plan like this, but these are not normal times.

Some high(?)lights: zero funding for REUs, zero funding for postdoctoral fellows, huge reduction in grad fellows. Closure of one LIGO facility, Kitt Peak, and CTIO.

The NASA budget is similarly bleak. I don’t know about DOE research funding.
