[phas-faculty_staff_others] Fw: Campus Weather Update

[Kurtis Williams]

In case you didn't see or didn't read the president's opinion about the weather, as all y'all's supervisor let me pass on my direction.

The weather will be dangerous for travel tomorrow. Even if campus is open, it is my strong opinion that y'all should work from home tomorrow. I have asked Lydia to do the same.

Please note that the semester will start Monday as scheduled, so if you have not yet turned in syllabi, you should prioritize that tomorrow, as well as doing any other preparation work you need to do.

On Friday the College of Science and Engineering will have a Zoom-based informational meeting; please attend virtually if you can. Similarly, I suspect tomorrow morning's presidential spring convocation will be broadcast online if it is not delayed.

Be safe, stay warm, and be ready for class on Monday.

Cheers,

Kurtis

Subject: Campus Weather Update

Dear Lion Family,

Your safety is our top priority. We are continually monitoring the potential for ice and snow accumulation in the area on Thursday, January 9. Currently, we plan for business operations on the main campus in Commerce and the Dallas site to follow their regular schedules. However, employees should prepare to work remotely based on their supervisor's directives.

If necessary, we will provide additional notification of any changes by early Thursday morning.

Stay Informed: Please monitor your university emails and the university’s social media channels (Facebook<https://www.facebook.com/etamu/>, Instagram<https://www.instagram.com/etamu1889/> and X<https://x.com/etamuniversity>) for further updates. We also recommend that you sign up for the Pride Alert Warning System (P.A.W.S.) on myLEO and download the free Lion Safe app (available on the App Store or Google Play) for important campus safety information.

All off-site locations will adhere to the decision of their host institution or local school district regarding closures or delays.

Stay warm and safe, Lions!

Mark Rudin

President
