Minutes of the senate today:

1- the first 35 minutes still dealt with the university name change. There are rumors that the administrators  are still considering it. The senate president (Yasemin Antic) will craft a letter to the president expressing our concerns about name change without involving the opinions of stakeholders, openly disclosing the financial costs of the process, etc.

2- Dallas campus site: College of Innovation and Design moved to the Dallas campus. It looks like this campus is not being very successful in attracting students.

3- There exists a University Faculty Handbook, last updated in 2016. A committee in the senate will work to update the handbook with approved policies during the past years.

4- Tenure and Promotion policies still under revision.

5- There will be an assembly of A&M faculty senates in College Station. The senate asked our president to bring along two of our concerns to the meeting:
(a) Bring ao the attention of the other senates the name change issue plaguing A&M-Commerce.
(b)  Try to include a faculty from Commerce  in the nominating  committee for the new Chancellor (to be submitted for the Governor’s final choice). 

6- The senate faculty awards ceremony will take place  around April 18, 2025. Please nominate one or more of our P&A colleagues for an award when the call is open.
