Hello!
End of business day tomorrow is the deadline to complete the spreadsheet<https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/16xFY_BQXIzjy-TeLbooZeosmFQW2AaK7HTWiqIAkHC0/edit?usp=sharing>* for Spring 2025 book adoptions. For the courses highlighted in orange, the bookstore communicated today that they have information regarding books/manuals OR a textbook was previously not required.
*The three tabs on the spreadsheet are defined below:
Tab 1 PHAS Spring 2025- this spreadsheet will be forwarded to the Bookstore so please add your selections/information to this spreadsheet.
Tab 2 Fall 2024 - for reference only. These were adoptions for Fall 2024.
Tab 3 Spring 2024 - for reference only. These were adoptions for Spring 2024.

Helpful information from the Bookstore:

  1. Information highlighted in red on the Spring 2024 tab indicate the books are currently OP (out-of-print) or an OE (old edition). Please move up to a newer edition as it would be beneficial for everyone involved. It will speed up the process of ordering the texts as I won't be combing through other avenues to get them, the students will have their books in a reasonable time frame, and I hope it will make your jobs easier as well.
  2. IMPORTANT- Scholarship, Workforce, and VA students get their textbooks through the bookstore. When we can't find the older textbooks, these students have no other way of getting them paid for by the money they worked hard to earn This is another valid reason for Professors to upgrade their Editions.
  3. Professors who give out links to course materials/texts--- the aforementioned students cannot pay for links that send them directly to vendors/publishers.
  4. The Inclusive Access courses - will you be participating in the program again, and if so, will they be using the same eBook or courseware that they used before. If you're unfamiliar with IA, Wende Bowen is the one to speak to about it, as she's way more familiar with the process and what it entails than I am. It is essentially going digital for an affordable fee that is applied to their student accounts directly. It streamlines course materials, and the texts Professors require for their courses.
  5. IF NO TEXTBOOK IS REQUIRED, PLEASE INDICATE THAT ON THE SPREADSHEET.
  6. PLEASE include ISBNs. This guarantees that we get the exact text that is needed. A glimpse behind the curtain- when I input an adoption, I type the given ISBN, and it gives me a plethora of options to choose from. If I'm not given an ISBN, I have to use the Author/Title, and that selection is 10 times larger. Having the specific ISBN will avoid incorrect adoptions and the long process of recognizing the error and fixing it.
  7. If you will be choosing to give out links directly to the publisher, etc. please notate that on the spreadsheet. It is a waste of resources, money, and time, to purchase texts when students can get their materials elsewhere.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Lydia
