[phas-faculty_staff_others] Fwd: Office of Academic Technology Reorganization

Please see this email from Dean Dunlap regarding the reorganization of the Office of Academic Technology (where 7 of the 9 employees were let go with 45 minute notice last Monday).

By the way, there are major changes coming to D2L this fall (a new version of Brightspace). I had scheduled training for us in August; I do not know if that is still going to happen.

The key phrase here I think is “learning in support of Academic Affairs priorities.” We may need to think about how to frame our endeavors under that phrase come fall.

I still have no official word on the rumors regarding the renaming of the university, but marketing has told the Greenville Herald Banner that it is “under consideration.” The department heads are meeting with the provost and president tomorrow; I assume this issue will come up.

Saludos de Barcelona,
Kurtis

Colleagues,

The Office of Academic Technology is reorganizing to improve support for teaching and learning. The reorganization will strengthen our commitment to educational development, teaching, and learning in support of Academic Affairs initiatives. To ensure continuity of services, the Library Team is collaborating with the Office of Academic Technology during the transition.

Brett Murrey (903.468.8687) and Jacob Mills (903.886.5513) continue to administer the learning management system and associated educational technology applications. Further, additional personnel are available to allow us to continue providing a suite of services to the academic community.

Our team is available via email, phone, or web conferencing. Contact us for D2L and Instructional Design support at online at tamuc.edu<mailto:online at tamuc.edu>. Brightspace (D2L) also provides technical support, 24/7, at 877.325.7778.

Postings related to new leadership and associated staffing will occur soon.

I welcome the opportunity to share additional information by attending your college or departmental meetings. Please contact me at 903.886.5738 or Lanee.Dunlap at tamuc.edu<mailto:Lanee.Dunlap at tamuc.edu>. I appreciate your understanding and support during the transition.

Please share this communication with your college and departments.

Thank you.
