Hi folks,

I just got out of a quick meeting with the University’s Export Control Committee. There were a few tidbits that I thought I notify you / remind you about.

1) Most COVID-related international travel restrictions have been lifted by the system. Rules for individual countries or regions may differ depending on circumstances.

2) If you are going to take university-owned devices with you, you must contact CITE in advance of your departure so that they can review any rules or limitations or safety concerns that may arise. When you return, please contact CITE again before hooking your computer up to the university network to give them the opportunity to scan for malicious software.

3) If you will be traveling out of the country for any reason and will be accessing university email or VPN from abroad, again please let CITE know so that they do not cut off your email access.

4) If you are going out of the country for non-university reasons, you do not have to file a foreign travel request, but you still might want to consider putting in a $0 request just so the administration knows you are out of the country in case of emergencies.

That’s all - nothing shocking.

Cheers,
Kurtis
