<span style="font-family:"Verdana","sans-serif""> The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Texas A&M University-Commerce was recently awarded $570,782 grant over 5 years to support our departmental efforts and research in implementing
new strategies for increasing recruitment, retention and graduation of physics majors and providing innovative support for them to enter top graduate schools in physical sciences or finding rewarding jobs in a field of Science, Technology, Engineering and
Math (STEM). The majority of the funds will be used to provide scholarships for academically talented physics majors with demonstrated financial needs and stipends for some of them to do research with any faculty member in the department. Attached please find
the program description and the application form. We would appreciate very much if you can help pass it to anyone who might be interested in the program, your former teachers at your high schools and/or community colleges. Of course, current students are strongly
encouraged to apply.
