Marino is an Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma. His research focuses on experimental quantum optics, with particular emphasis on its applications to quantum information science and quantum metrology. Before arriving to the University of Oklahoma,
he held a postdoctoral position and then an Assistant Research Scientist position at the Joint Quantum Institute (NIST/University of Maryland). He obtained an M.S. and a Ph.D. (2006) in optics from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester, a

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">The field of quantum information holds the promise of harnessing quantum resources to provide secure communications,
perform complex calculations, and enhance the sensitivity of measurements. Among those resources, one of the most important is entanglement, which is characterized by correlations stronger than allowed classically. Due to its fundamental role in quantum
information science, the generation of entangled states of light is an active research area. I will start the talk with a general introduction into the topic of generation and characterization of entangled states of light known as twin beams. I will then show
how it is possible to use four-wave mixing (FWM) to generate them and will describe some of the properties of the quantum states of light generated with this nonlinear process. Finally, I will describe the role that quantum states can play in enhancing the
sensitivity of devices. In particular, I will show how it is possible to use the reduced noise properties of twin beams to enhance the sensitivity of plasmonics sensors.</span></p>
