a Ph.D. degree (2003) in Physics at Rockefeller University. His Ph.D. research topic was on studies of diffractive dijet production and measurement of the diffractive structure function of the proton in 1.8 TeV proton-proton collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron
Collider. He stayed with the Rockefeller University as a postdoc and worked on precision QCD measurement and new physics searches with high energy jets with the CDF (Collider Detector at Fermilab) experiment at the Fermilab and the CMS experiment at CERN,
Geneva, Switzerland. In 2009, Dr. Hatakeyama began his appointment as an Assistant Professor at Baylor University, where he is currently doing research in high energy physics. More information about Dr. Hatakeyama and his/her research can be found at

<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; vertical-align: baseline; white-space: pre-wrap; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">Roughly 80% of the mass of the universe is made up of material that we cannot directly observe
</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; white-space: pre-wrap; font-family: 'Times New Roman'; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255);">which we call dark matter. Studies of the motion of galaxies first indicated that the universe contains more matter than we can
see in our observation. Support for dark matter has grown over years; however no solid direct evidence of dark matter has been obtained. The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the world’s most largest and powerful particle collider, which produce billions of proton-proton
collisions per second, and it led to the discovery of the god particle, Higgs boson. If the Large Hadron Collider is powerful enough, we should have a chance to produce new particles that constitute the dark matter. I will discuss research effort to find dark
matter particles at the Large Hadron Collider.</span></p>
