Year 22

January 10, 2018

Dear Readers,

The results of our elections are in, and I would like to thank all those who stood for office as well as all those who made their voices heard through voting. Our new NSHP Board members are:

President Elect: Jacob Urquidi (jurquidi at nmsu.edu<mailto:jurquidi at nmsu.edu>)

Student Representative: Brian Zamarripa Roman

Communication Officer: Miguel Castro-Colin (m.castrocolin at gmail.com<mailto:m.castrocolin at gmail.com>)

We extend our thanks and gratitude to the Luz Martinez-Miranda (former Past President) and Jorge Lopez (former Communication Officer and NewsLetter Editor) who are rotating off the Board. Thank you for your service! Former President Jesus Pando will continue on the Board as Past President, but we would like to thank Jesus for his leadership and hard work during the transition to a full 503(c) organization in partnership with SURA over the past couple of years. The remaining members of the Board will continue in their previous positions.

In coming issues of The Hispanic Physicist we will be discussing new initiatives to expand involvement in the physics community as well as what resources the NSHP has to help students attend our joint meeting with SACNAS in San Antonio this October. So keep an eye out for future developments!

Feliz Año Nuevo,

Ramon Lopez
President, NSHP
