Hi folks,

Our colloquium speaker, Dr. Emily Levesque, will be visiting us all day tomorrow, and I’d like to request that you try and find a time to meet with her. Dr. Levesque is one of the top young observational astronomers in the United States and was recently awarded the Annie Jump Cannon award, one of the highest honors for astronomers in the US. Dr. Levesque has studied a wide range of topics, including the red giant stages of massive star evolution, gamma ray bursts and the intergalactic medium, and exotic objects like the

Any grad or undergrad students are especially encouraged to schedule meeting times to talk about research, life in astronomy, grad school life, etc.

In particular, I suggest the following ideas in priority order; please contact me if you are willing to participate in one or more:

* A group of a few undergrads / grads and a faculty member to take Dr. Levesque to lunch (I teach and cannot go to lunch).
* A meeting with the SPS to chat at the regular 3pm time
* A couple of grad students to join us for dinner (please talk to Alex Spahn to draw lots)
* Anyone for ~30 min meetings at other times; please let me know what works timewise

Thanks!

KAW
