	Could you please let your students know about the following opportunity?

	We are currently accepting applications for The University of Texas at Brownsville summer REU program as described on the attached flyer.
	
	Students can chose a research project from astrophysics, biophysics, gravitational wave detection, lasers and photonics, nanoscience, radio astronomy, and optical astronomy.
	
	Participants will receive a $5000 stipend and housing will be provided.
	
	Students who have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior year in college by Spring 2013 are invited to apply (graduating seniors and more advanced students are not eligible).  Physics, astronomy, chemistry, computer science and engineering majors are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or Permanent Residents.
	
	Facilities include modern optics and photonics laboratories, state-of-the-art laboratories in material science, the Arecibo Remote Command Center at UTB, and the UTB Astronomical Observatory, which is a testing bed facility for the development of an Optical Transient Southern Observatory in South America. Some participants will also spend some time at the LIGO Hanford Observatory, an NSF national facility managed jointly by MIT and Caltech in the state of Washington.
