Good morning everyone,
In case you were not aware or had forgotten, the following important changes are being made to computer security starting on Wednesday.
* For many computers, you will be required to use two-factor authentication through DUO during login. This means you will need to have your phone with you when logging in.
o Faculty office computers are supposed to remember your authentication for nine hours
o Most other office computers will require authentication on every login and/or upon unlocking a locked screen
o Supposedly instructor computers in classrooms will not require authentication
o Supposedly laboratory computers will not require authentication
o Be prepared for annoyances in the first few days.
* The following has already started: If you are locked out of your computer or forget your phone with authentication, you will need to call CITE and initiate a video chat. You must have a government-issued ID that you will also show on the screen (passport, driver's license, state ID card, or the like) so that the CITE personnel can verify your face and name.
Both of these changes are required by the system, so there is no way around them other than not to use university computers.
Have fun!
Kurtis
