[phas-alumni] [phas-dept] Neural networks

A student in Phys317 asked me today about my opinion on giving this year's Nobel Prize in Physics to 2 scientists "for foundational discoveries and inventions that enable machine learning with artificial neural networks". I have seen already a lot of comments on this on facebook by some people I know.  I am not qualified to comment on anything this BIG.
Nevertheless, attached please find a local/timely example of applying neural networks in solving important questions in nuclear physics by 2 of our current undergraduates.
