Hello Writing Center Folks!
I know it's been a while since many of you have heard from me, but I hope some in the NTWCA still remember me!
I'm emailing to let you all know of a terrific position opening we have. We have decided to hire a new Writing Center Coordinator. The job opening is as follows:
COORDINATOR, TUTORING FOR WRITE SITE CENTER: ($2,996 per month) - Job Code: 10NV052
Department: Write Site
Education: Master's degree in English or closely related field. Ph.D. in English (with emphasis in composition and/or writing center studies) preferred.
Experience: A minimum of one year tutoring experience. Three to five years of work experience, supervisory experience, and leadership experience in a Writing Center preferred.
Duties: The primary role of this position is to select, train, supervise tutors, and to assist with tutoring when needed as well as assisting with institutional effectiveness for the unit. Work is performed under minimal supervision and performance is based upon effectiveness of tutoring and results obtained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.
Date Closed: Open until filled.
The position would also allow you the opportunity fo teach a course each term. We have a PhD program in rhetoric at TWU, so you'd be able to work with some outstanding tutors, and the position might also be ideal for someone who either wants to pursue doctoral work full time or someone who's already in a doctoral program. Also, some of you who have visited us in the past know that we have one of the nicer writing centers in the area (if I may say so), and we also have an outstanding chair and VP for Undergraduate Studies who will be very supportive.
We are receiving applications as we speak, so if you are interested or know someone who's interested, please apply right away. (Go to our website at www.twu.edu<http://www.twu.edu/> and find the instructions under the HR department's listings.) I am a member of the search committee and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the position.
Thanks so much!
