[New International Students]

Greetings New LIONS:

 

According to the Texas A&M University System regulation, international students (F-1 & J-1) are required to hold insurance that meets the Affordable Care Act (ACA) requirements as well as provides repatriation and medical evacuation. International Students are defined as students who are not United States citizens or permanent residents of the United States.

 

If you have your own insurance

Please apply for waiver here: https://tamuc.myahpcare.com/

  *   Choose ”OPT OUT” and follow directions on website.

Academic Health Plans oversees approving or declining the health waiver once submitted.

International Student Health Insurance



Early Arrival:

Initial fall international students will be enrolled in Fall early arrival health insurance 2023. The coverage will start on August 1, 2023, thru August 31, 2023. You may apply for a waiver, ALL WAIVERS must be submitted during this period July 28, 2023, to August 22, 2023.

 

* New Students that arrive in August, will automatically be enrolled in Early Arrival Insurance with a charge of $252 on your student account.

Fall Insurance:

All international students will be enrolled in health insurance for fall and spring term. The coverage for fall will start on September 1, 2023, thru December 31, 2023. You may apply for a waiver, ALL WAIVERS must be submitted during this period August 2, 2023, to September 7, 2023.



* Students taking classes in the Fall Semester, will automatically be enrolled in Early Arrival Insurance with a charge of $1,010 on your student account.

If you do not submit a waiver, OR if you fail to take any action and/or if you missed the waiver deadline to be approved, you will be automatically enrolled in the System Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) through AHP, and the charge will be applied to your student account.
