Howdy International Lions,

The year is almost over which means it is the time of year that you’ll be in preparation for your studies for Spring at TAMUC. We are very excited to meet all of you in the near future. This email will give you instructions on what to expect in the months coming forward as a new incoming student.

MANDATORY : Re-Register for Spring New International Student Orientation (NISO)

International orientation is required for all incoming students to participate in accordance with their onboarding and immigration status with TAMUC. Our office will have a packed day of information and socializing so you can learn more about our community and meet all the important offices associated with our university and broad Texas community!

New International Student Orientation (NISO)

MANDATORY: International Student Reporting to TAMUC -OIP ( After your arrival to the U.S.)

All prospective non-immigrant students are required to report to TAMUC in person or virtual with the Office of the International Programs in order to meet immigration compliance. Please upload/submit immigration documents after you have entered the U.S.

  *   Current Visa
  *   Current I-20

  *   I-94 which can be found at the Customs and Border Protection website at the I-94 Home Page<https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/#/home>;

As an incoming F-1 student, you must a maintain full course of studies starting your first academic semester and throughout your academic tenure at TAMUC. Please reference the attached document for more information and instruction on what encompasses full course of studies.

ATTN All College of Business Majors: Please review instructions linked above as there are updates to what is considered as full course of studies within your degree program.

International Student Health Insurance- Spring/Summer Insurance:

All international students will be enrolled in health insurance for spring/summer term and fall term. The coverage for spring will start on January 1, 2023, thru August 31, 2023. You may apply for a waiver, ALL WAIVERS must be submitted during this period December 9, 2022, to February 1st,  2023.

If you do not have the health insurance charge in your student bill after the first day of class, please email intlinsurance at tamuc.edu<mailto:intlinsurance at tamuc.edu> . Note that OIP will not waive off any charges for insurance unless approved by AHP. If you have not been charged by the first date of class, or there are missed insurance charges for any semester, OIP will add the insurance charge towards the end of the semester or the beginning of the next. Students are liable to pay their health insurance fee, once again OIP will not remove the charge for any students if the charge is added at a later date, there will be no exception made.

Disclaimer: U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) requires every international student to personally check in with the International Office. We are required to report your arrival at A&M-Commerce to the USCIS. If you fail to attend the orientation on January 11, 2023, we may be forced to terminate your Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) record and in accordance to 8 CFR 214.2(f)(5)(iv) of the regulations you will be required to depart the U.S. immediately. This will leave a permanent negative mark on your U.S. immigration history and may result in a denial of any pending immigration applications.
