[NewIntlStudents] Insurance Waiver is Open

[New International Students]

Students,

The waiver application for the 2017 summer session for the System Student Health Insurance Plan (SSHIP) has opened.  F-1 or J-1 international students eligible for an A&M System allowed waiver may submit the waiver request and required documents at https://tamuc.myahpcare.com/waiver.  For a list of the A&M System allowed waiver exceptions or for more information about the A&M System health insurance requirements go to http://bit.ly/1CFhzv2.  Please note the ISSS does not make any decision on waivers or exceptions.

THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT YOUR SSHIP WAIVER REQUEST IS JUNE 2, 2017.  STUDENTS WITH AN APPROVED WAIVER FOR Spring 2017 WILL NOT NEED TO SUBMIT A WAIVER REQUEST FOR THE FALL 2017.  ATTACHED IS AN FAQ THAT ADDRESSES MANY QUESTIONS RELATED TO THE SSHIP.

The SSHIP premium amount for the summer 2017 semester is $600.00.  This charge will be added to student accounts after a student has registered for courses for spring 2017 and once the university begins applying tuition and fees.  Payment will need to be made by the 12th day of class or Student Accounts will assess a late fee penalty for students who have not paid the SSHIP premium.  The coverage period for students will be May 17, 2017 to August 31, 2017.   For more information please review the attached FAQ.

Graduate assistants with current Grad Plan insurance coverage will need to submit the Assistantship Verification Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/assistantship_form.aspx>.  GA's with Grad Plan insurance DO NOT submit a waiver request...only the Assistantship Verification Form<http://www.tamuc.edu/campusLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/assistantship_form.aspx>.  A separate email will be sent to GA's with additional information.
