[NewIntlStudents] International Student Orientation at Texas A&M University-Commerce

[New International Students]

The Office of International Student & Scholar Services at Texas A&M University-Commerce will be hosting the International Student Orientation on Wednesday, January 11 beginning at 8:45am in the Rayburn Student Center (RSC) Conference Rooms.   All new F-1 and J-1 international students are required to attend the orientation.  Please arrive at the RSC by 8:15m so you may sign in and receive your orientation packet.

The Rayburn Student Center is building number B33 on the campus map at http://www.tamuc.edu/aboutus/thecampus/campusmap.pdf.  The conference rooms are located on the 2nd floor.  Be sure to arrive on time for the orientation and do not arrive late.  If you are coming from the Dallas/Fort Worth area please note it may take up to 2 hours or longer to travel to Commerce.  Students may park in parking lots number 23, 21, or 18 and you may print a visitor parking pass at https://apps.tamuc.edu/Visitorparking/.

We will provide breakfast and lunch for all new international students.  Please note that we will only be able to provide meals for new students.  If you will have any friends or family members attend the orientation with you they will have to purchase their own lunch.  Meal tickets will not be provided for friends or family members.

Please note that childcare is not provided at the orientation and students will need to make arrangements for childcare before the orientation.  You are welcome to contact the A&M-Commerce Children's Learning Center to discuss availability at http://www.tamuc.edu/campuslife/campusServices/childrensLearningCenter/default.aspx.

The orientation will conclude at 3:30pm and the following academic departments will host a separate information session for students majoring in their academic programs.  Once a student has checked in the ISSS will provide additional information for academic advising and course registration:

*        College of Business Graduate Advising will host an information for all graduate College of Business majors at 3:45pm in the conference rooms.

*        The Department of Computer Science will host an orientation for all graduate Computer Science and Computational Science majors at 4pm in the Journalism Building Room 129.

*        All other students may contact their academic department directly or contact the individual provided at the conclusion of check-in with the ISSS.
