The International Student Services Office at Texas A&M University-Commerce would like to congratulate you again on your admission. This email is a friendly reminder to be sure to pay attention to the emails sent to all new international students from the ISSO at A&M-Commerce. Once a new student's admission file is forwarded to the ISSO we send an email that explains the next steps.

We have a number of students whose I-20's have already been issued but we are still waiting on the required documents to issue the I-20 for some students. As a reminder:

* Before the I-20 can be issued students must first complete the New International Student Questionnaire (attached) and submit this completed document along with a copy of your passport to Intl.Stu at tamuc.edu<mailto:Intl.Stu at tamuc.edu>. Please note the ISSO WILL NOT issue an I-20 until we have these documents. These documents allow us to have all of the most accurate and current information for new students so we can issue their I-20 correctly. DO NOT send your documents to any alternate email to avoid delays and confusion.

* Some students may be admitted to the university without providing the necessary proof of funding as stated at http://alturl.com/nuaxj. However, an I-20 CANNOT be issued until a student provides the required proof of funding along with the required sponsor statement at http://alturl.com/nuaxj. If a sponsor lives in the U.S. then a separate affidavit of support is required. Please see the mentioned links for more information.

* Once we have the necessary documents then please allow up to 10 business days to issue the I-20. The ISSO understands the importance of issuing the I-20 as quickly as possible but until a student submits the required documents as instructed we cannot issue the I-20. The faster a student responds to our inquiries and sets up their mailing for the I-20 the quicker a student can receive their I-20.

* Students have three different options to mail the I-20 but the ONLY reliable mailing option is through Eshipglobal<http://www.tamuc.edu/CampusLife/CampusServices/internationalStudentServices/express-mail-documents1.aspx> express mail for FedEx, DHL, or UPS. While this option is the most expensive it is also the most reliable service and fastest service to receive the I-20. Some students may choose the less expensive USPS International Priority mail or even the free USPS International Air Mail but these mailing options are not as reliable as the express mail. Please DO NOT wait until your I-20 is issued before you set up mailing. This will only delay the process.

The ISSO has also developed a guidebook that answers most of the questions new international may have as they prepare to study here. The guidebook may be found at http://bit.ly/1vpyk41.
