The ISSO will place the $639 insurance charge on student's accounts after the 4th day of class on Friday, August 30. Please be sure to review your account at that time and make payment for the insurance by the 12th day of class. The deadline to report any waiver eligibility is August 26. Insurance charges WILL NOT BE REMOVED after placed on a student's account on August 30. Please note the ISSO does not set the cost for the health insurance nor are we a part of choosing the SSHIP provider. Should you have any questions or concerns email John.Jones at tamuc.edu.
An enrollment report for all students was submitted to the SSHIP provider, AHP, last week and all students enrolled as of Friday, August 23 at 12pm noon who have not reported a waiver were on the report. Student information has been uploaded into AHP's system and students may access their AHP portal at https://www.academichealthplans.com/tamuc/2013-2014/ and select Student Login at the top. A series of emails were sent to student's myLeo accounts with instructions on logging in and requesting a waiver if eligible. Should you have any questions or concerns email John.Jones at tamuc.edu.
It was first reported that students would need to report their waiver eligibility directly to AHP, but due to the delays the ISSO has experienced related to the technological and system changes with the new insurance provider students were instead encouraged to report their waiver as instructed below. The deadline to report your waiver information or request is August 26:
*
Students with graduate assistantship insurance will need to contact Cynthia.Todhunter at tamuc.edu and have her send an email to the ISSO confirming your GA insurance.
*
Students with a government scholarship (for example...SACM scholarship) will need to contact Sherrie.Phelps at tamuc.edu in the Financial Services Office to ensure she has a current valid financial guarantee on record. Do not send your FG to the ISSO. The ISSO requests regular updates from Financial Services for this information.
*
Students with employment insurance may email their verification of current enrollment, copy of their insurance card, and verification of the minimum insurance coverage to John.Jones at tamuc.edu. AHP may have sent an email providing instructions as well for reporting a waiver and students with employment insurance may follow those instructions as well.
PLEASE NOTE DUE TO A&M SYSTEM RULES THE ISSO CANNOT EXCEPT ANY OUTSIDE INSURANCE UNLESS THE STUDENT MEETS ONE OF THE ALLOWED WAIVERS ABOVE. For more information on the SSHIP go to http://www.tamuc.edu/studentLife/campusServices/internationalStudentServices/currentStudents/insurance.aspx. Should you have any questions or concerns email John.Jones at tamuc.edu.
