The International Student Services office (ISSO) at Texas A&M
University-Commerce would like to congratulate you on your acceptance to
our university and we look forward to meeting you in August. Below are
some of the frequently asked questions from our new international
students. Please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/Prior_to_arrival.asp> for
more frequently asked questions.

Below are some of the most frequently asked questions we receive from
our new international students. Please read over the information very
carefully:

* What is my campus wide Identification number (CWID)? Your CWID
(500xxxxx) is your identification number for A&M-Commerce. After you
apply to the university you will receive your CWID number and this
number is used when you log into myLeo
<https://leo.tamu-commerce.edu/login.aspx> and is also included on your
acceptance letter from A&M-Commerce. When you contact any department on
campus at A&M-Commerce the first thing you will usually be asked is your
CWID. This number is very important and we would recommend memorizing
the number, keeping it in your wallet/purse or backpack, and include
your CWID with any correspondence with any university department (ISSO,
academic department, admissions).

* When can I register for my classes? All new international
students (including transfer students) are required to check-in with an
international advisor in person and attend the mandatory international
orientation before being eligible to register for classes. NO
EXCEPTIONS! Please see below for details regarding international
orientation and check-in. ELI students will be registered for classes
through the ELI program.

* When is the international orientation and do I have to attend?
International student orientation is on Thursday, August 25 and will
begin at 8:30am sharp and students should expect to be involved in
orientation and other activities on-campus the majority of the day. DO
NOT BE LATE! We strongly recommend students arrive no later than 8:15
to sign and receive the orientation packet. All international students
are required to attend the orientation. Undergraduate international
students only must attend the international student orientation AND
attend undergraduate orientation. Please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/home/orientation/> for more information.

* When can I check-in with an international advisor? For a list
of documents/information required at check-in please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/Orientation_checkin.asp> .
Students can check-in IN PERSON check-in from Wednesday, August 17 to
Tuesday, August 23 from 9am-11am and 2pm-4pm in the ISSO in Halladay
104. Check-in will also be on Wednesday, August 24 from 9am-12pm (noon)
in Halladay 104. Please bring original documents with you. Transfer
students and students with dependents will be required to provide
additional documents. Students that arrive after these dates will
receive email notification for late check-in dates and times.

* What if I cannot arrive in Commerce in time to check-in and
attend the international student orientation on August 25? Students
that arrive in Commerce on or after August 25 will be delayed in their
ability to register for classes. International student orientation will
take up most of the day on August 25 and there will be check-in
conducted on the day of orientation. There are a number of risks for
students that are not able arrive in the U.S. by the program start date
on their I-20 (first day of fall semester), August 29. If you are
unable to arrive in the U.S. and Commerce by August 29 then you will
need to defer your admission. The ISSO WILL NOT grant permission for a
student to arrive late. Please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/int_admissions.asp> for
deferral information.

* Who do I contact regarding my degree plan and knowing what
classes I need to register for this fall semester?

Undergraduate international students (ONLY UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS) will
be required to attend international student orientation and regular
undergraduate orientation. You may visit
http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/orientation/ for more information.
Advisors at the undergraduate orientation will assist you with course
registration. Computer Science majors will be required to take a brief
quiz with the Computer Science Department in the Journalism building
before registering for courses. Business related majors may contact the
CBT Advising Center at 1-866-622-3899, 903-468-3197, or email
cbt at tamu-commerce.edu with any questions and to receive your degree
plan. Technology Management majors may click here
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/colleges/scienceEngineeringAgric
ulture/departments/engineeringTechnology/facultyStaff/default.aspx> for
more information. Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, etc...) and all
other majors may go to their specific academic department to meet with
their academic advisor for their degree plan. For a list of academic
departments please go to
http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/azPrograms/default.aspx.

* Are there any required vaccinations for international students?
There are no required vaccinations of international students UNLESS you
plan to live on-campus. Any student, international or domestic, who
lives in on-campus housing this fall is required to have a meningitis
vaccination. Please click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/forms/Evidence%20of%20Vaccin
ation%20Against%20Bacterial%20Meningitis%20%281%29.pdf> or you may
contact Residential Living and Learning at 903-886-5797 or email
residencelife at tamu-commerce.edu.

* What will be the cost of my courses? New international
students will often contact the International Student Services office
(ISSO) prior to their first semester to inquire about the specific
amount of their tuition and fees. The exact amount of the tuition and
fees for a student cannot be known until the student has registered for
courses and new international students cannot register for courses until
completing check-in with an international advisor and attending the
mandatory orientation. The ISSO can only advise students that the
estimated cost for tuition and fees for one year is $17,500.00 USD but
this amount may vary depending on academic program and/or housing. We
cannot provide the specific amount you will owe each semester. For
more information specific to tuition and fees or if you have any
questions or concerns please click here
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.asp
x> .

* What are my payment options for my tuition and fees? The
Bursar's office is our financial services office on campus and students
may set-up a payment plan to spread out the payment of their tuition and
fees each semester. The Bursar's office website also has a tuition and
fee payment scale so students may have an idea of what they should
expect to pay for their tuition and fees. For more information specific
to tuition and fees or if you have any questions or concerns please
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/admissions/tuitionCosts/bursar/default.asp
x> . For information regarding wire transfers please contact
sarah_baker at tamu-commerce.edu.

* Where can I find information about on-campus employment?

Current student worker positions available are listed at here
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/studentLife/studentEmployment/default.aspx
> . International students are not eligible for work-study student
worker positions. Graduate assistantships are highly competitive as
they provide a larger semester salary and may include the in-state
tuition waiver. Please click here
<http://web.tamu-commerce.edu/academics/graduateSchool/funding/assistant
ships/default.aspx> for more information.

* How can I get in contact with students from my country?
Students will often contact the ISSO to find out information about
current students from their country or region. Students may either
forward their email and/or contact information to
intl_stu at tamu-commerce.edu with a request to have their information
forwarded to current students or click here
<http://www.tamu-commerce.edu/international/Get_connected.asp> for a
list of international student groups on-campus.
