DO NOT PURCHASE MEDICAL/REPATRIATION INSURANCE PRIOR TO THE START OF THE
SPRING 2011 SEMESTER.
All international students are required to have medical/repatriation
during their studies at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Students will be
automatically enrolled in the A&M System insurance on the first day of
the spring 2011 semester. The International Student Services office
(ISSO) will ensure all students are enrolled in the insurance program.
For more information on the insurance please go to
www.tamuinsurance.com, select Texas A&M University-Commerce, and select
the Basic 50K International Plan.
The cost of the insurance is $274 and this premium will be charged to
your student account as a separate charge with your tuition and fees.
The $274 charge IS NOT included with your tuition but is a separate
charge. This charge may not show up immediately on your account but
may take up to a week to appear on your student account after the start
of the semester. Students will be required to pay the $274 premium by
the 20th day of class in the spring semester.
The only students who will exempted from this mandatory enrollment will
be the following:
* Students with a government scholarship that includes
medical/repatriation insurance that meets our minimum requirements (ex.
Saudi Arabia)
* Students who have a full-time graduate assistantship with the
GA insurance. Please note there is a 90 day waiting period before the
GA insurance is effective and stduents will still be required to pay the
$274 premium for the A&M System insurance.
* Students whose spouse is employed in the U.S. and has
medical/repatriation insurance that meets our minimum requirements.
It is your responsibility to provide the ISSO insurance if you meet any
of the above exemptions.
