Good afternoon from the Music Department!

The Texas A&M University-Commerce Symphonic and Concert Bands will be performing a concert entitled "Through the Telescope" on Thursday, February 25th, at 7:30 PM, in Finney Concert Hall. Among the works being performed is "Vulcan" by Michael Daugherty, "Mother Earth Fanfare" by David Maslanka,"Moon by Night" by Jonathan Newman, a new work entitled "In This Broad Earth" by Steven Bryant, and a world premiere of "Turbo Scramjet" by William Pitts. This new adaptation of William Pitts' original work is conceived for saxophone quartet and wind ensemble and will feature the Texas Saxophone Quartet.

"...Founded in 1983, the trailblazing Texas Saxophone Quartet is once again dazzling audiences. Shifting effortlessly between classical and jazz, the TSQ entertains, educates and engages as they show off the versatility of the saxophone. Over its 30 year history the TSQ has commissioned works from respected composers such as Elliot Del Borgo, Bill Holcombe and Ron Newman. The group has appeared as featured artists with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, United States Navy Band, Dallas Wind Symphony, Plano Symphony Orchestra, University of Texas-Arlington Wind Ensemble and the Baylor University Symphony Orchestra. The quartet consists of Don Fabian (soprano saxophone), David Lovrien (alto saxophone), Chris Beaty (tenor saxophone) and John Sweeden (baritone saxophone)..."

Admission for the event is free. We hope you will be able to join us for a look "Through the Telescope" on February 25th.
