Singer/Songwriter David Baker will present a free concert featuring
songs from his new CD "Angels Dance in the Afternoon" on campus Friday,
September 20 at 7:00pm in Finney Concert Hall in the Music Building.
Joined by students and faculty from the TAMUC Department of Music, Baker
will headline an evening of original works and arrangements that will
showcase his new CD and music from his diverse career.
 
David Baker's work has been heard on television, in films, and around
the world in concert halls and coffee shops. David keeps alive the
simplicity and elegance of the singer/songwriter tradition of the 60's
and 70's while reinventing new sounds, images, and words for a new
generation of music lovers. He is also known as a beloved singer of the
work of John Denver, whose songs he both faithfully honors and
reinterprets. His career as a composer for both film and television has
allowed him to arrange his work for a variety of ensemble concerts
featuring other voices, bands, and orchestras.  Friday's concert will
feature arrangements that include members of the Choir and Jazz programs
at A&M-Commerce as well as professional musicians from throughout
Northeast Texas.
