MSW Field Orientation Invitation
You are invited to attend the MSW Field Orientation to receive important information regarding the field education experience, requirements, and expectations for your practicum journey.

Purpose of the Orientation and Field Education
Field education is considered the signature pedagogy of social work education, providing students with the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in real-world practice settings. During this orientation, students will learn about:

  *   The purpose of field education: Integrating theory, research, and practice while developing professional social work competencies.
  *   Professional expectations: Ethical practice, communication, accountability, and adherence to agency policies and the NASW Code of Ethics.
  *   Roles and responsibilities: Understanding the roles of the student, field instructor, task supervisor, and the university field office.
  *   Learning objectives and competencies: How field education supports the development of the CSWE EPAS competencies required for professional social work practice.
  *   Field placement processes: Expectations for documentation, supervision, time requirements, and evaluation of student performance.
  *   Professional growth: Developing practice skills in engagement, assessment, intervention, and evaluation within agency and community settings.
