Good Morning

STUDY ABROAD ELECTIVE FOR 2023
Social Work in Costa Rica

TWO SEATS HAVE OPENED UP!!!

We will be traveling to Costa Rica in the May Mini Semester
(Travel dates 05/16 - 05/24)
and

Each class is limited to enrollment of 16

If you think you might be interested, please complete the attached Interest Application and return it no later than Monday April 3rd..

Dates to Be Aware of:

1. Interest Application Due no later than February 28th, 2023 (class size is limited, so get yours completed and sent in)

2. Office of International Programs (Study Abroad) is offering scholarships to offset the cost of the trip. You must complete the online application by April 1, 2023 to be considered for this scholarship. Below is the link (in years past, all students who applied received the $1,000 and this should work the same way this year)

https://dms.tamuc.edu/Forms/Studyabroadscholarship

3. You must pay a non-refundable deposit of $450.00 towards the trip no later Monday April 2nd to secure your spot. Your deposit is part of the overall costs for the trip - not in addition to (example, if the trip costs $1700 and you paid $500 deposit, you would be required to pay the remaining $1200 before the semester begins). The Scholarship is applied to your account to offset that remaining trip costs.

Other information:

  * You must enroll in the course (SWK 492 or SWK 592) (this is an elective, 3 hour credit course and requires being permitted to enroll)
  * The cost for the trip (airfare, hotel, ground transportation in Costa Rica, some meals and entry into various sites that we attend) ranges from $1600 - $1800. The biggest variable is the cost of airfare and we don't know that this far out in advance.
  * The cost of food while in country that you would have to cover is estimated at $300 - $400 - depending on what you choose to eat. Just as in the states, you can eat economically or order meals that cost more. We usually have 8-9 meals we must cover on our own.
