Registration for graduate students begins Monday, March 24, 2014;
therefore, I will be sending the registration request email to the MSW
listserve on Friday, March 21, 2014, at 5:00pm. This email will include
instructions for submitting your registration requests as well as the
Registration Request Forms listed below. Please note the following
changes:
1. Foundation students (those who do not have a BSW degree from a
CSWE accredited program) will still be required to submit a registration
request for all Foundation classes. You will use Registration Request
Form A for Fall 2014 courses. Please note that you may register for the
Social Work elective Summer 2014 and no permit will be required (there
are no Foundation classes available during the Summer semester).
2. Concentration students (those who either have a BSW degree from
a CSWE accredited program OR those who have completed all 8 Foundation
classes) can register for SWK 507, 508, 509, 510, and SWK 597 (or 570)
without registration permits. Those classes no longer require permits
to register. Please also see #3 and/or #4 for the classes which still
require registration permits.
3. Returning part-time Concentration students (and Foundation
students who will be completing the last of their Foundation classes
Spring 2014) who will be starting the field practicum (SWK 554) Summer
2014 ARE NOT eligible to register for the online field seminar. Your
first semester in concentration field must be in the classroom. You
will use Registration Request Form B for Summer classes and Form B for
Fall 2014 classes. Please note that if you successfully complete SWK
554 Summer 2014, you will be eligible to take SWK 554 (field practicum)
online Fall 2014.
4. Returning Concentration students who have already completed, or
are in the process of completing, their first semester of concentration
field practicum will use Registration Request Form A for Summer and Form
B for Fall 2014.
PLEASE NOTE: There has been a change to the May Mini 2014 graduate
offering this year. SWK 597.01M Elective - Costa Rica - requires prior
approval from the instructor, Dr. Rebecca Judd, and only those
pre-approved for the class will be issued registration permits. If you
are one of the students already approved for the trip to Costa Rica, I
will automatically issue the registration permit for the May Mini class.
All other students will need to take one of the social work electives
(SWK 597) offered Summer 2014.
Please review your degree plan carefully to make sure you are only
submitting your request(s) for classes in which you are eligible to
attend in order to avoid registration delays. Please be aware that any
student registered for a class in which they are not eligible to attend
will be administratively dropped from the class, i.e., Foundation
students registering for SWK 507, 508, or 509, etc. Additionally, if a
registration request is submitted requesting permission to register for
a class in which you are not eligible to attend, your request will be
returned for correction.
As always, please don't worry if you are placed on a waiting list for a
specific class. We've never turned a student away yet because of a full
class. Just be aware that waiting lists aren't usually cleared until a
week or two before the start of the new semester.
If you have any questions regarding any of this information, please
email me.
Thank you for your help in making this a smooth registration beginning
next week.
