[Msw] National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)

I am a former student of the Texas A&M University- Commerce Social Work
program and wanted to briefly share an event with you in hopes that you
may pass this information along. I am an employee of NAMI Dallas
(National Alliance on Mental Illness), a non-profit grassroots
organization that provides FREE mental health education courses and
support groups to adults diagnosed with a mental illness and their
families/caregivers. I wanted to extend an invitation to the staff and
students of the Social Work Dept. (and other departments that may be
related to mental illness) to attend our annual mental health awareness
5k walk.

 

WHEN: Saturday, May 10, 2014 

TIME: 9:00AM-12:00PM 

WHERE: State Fair of Texas

The Dallas NAMI Walks is much like a breast cancer walk instead our aim
is to raise awareness on mental illness. As you may be aware, there has
been a rise in tragedies involving individuals diagnosed with mental
illness and our goal is to help reduce the stigma, provide education and
support to those affected. We will have food and live entertainment at
this event. We encourage our guests to bring their friends, family,
colleagues, neighbors and even their pets! J. Participants may even form
a team to increase their presence. If anyone would like to learn more
