[Msw] Changes in the School of Social Work

Dear students, colleagues, and friends - I wanted to update  you on some
significant changes taking place in the School of Social Work this
coming fall.  After 11 years of devoted service to our department, Patsy
Boshears is retiring!!!  In honor of all her contributions, we'd like to
invite you to a reception on Monday, August 5, 2:30 - 4:30 pm in
Henderson Hall, 3rd floor.  Please take this opportunity to come see
Patsy as she begins a new chapter called retirement!!!

 

We are re-positioning several other folks in light of Patsy's departure.
Chuck Nash is going to move into Patsy's position as Title IV-E
Instructor and will have a full teaching load (specific classes have not
yet determined).  Chuck has had some serious health issues this past
year and is facing knee replacement surgery, so in order to provide
coverage and ensure continuity, Brian Brumley (who is currently the BSW
Field Coordinator) is going to serve as Field Director for both the BSW
and MSW field programs.  As enrollment continues to grow, additional
support will be sought in the near future.

 

As many of you know, I plan to step down as Dept. Head as soon as a
replacement can be hired.  I, too, want to assume a full-time teaching
role (and some relief from administrative headaches!!!).  For now, I
will be providing coverage for the BSW program in terms of recruitment
and advising.  Once a new Department Head is in place, he/she will be
able to assess the department's needs and move forward accordingly.

 

I hope you are having a great summer and I look forward to hopefully
seeing many of you at Patsy's reception on the 5th!  Best wishes to you
